Sight

What do you see?

A vast, unending sea.

What else do you see?

The seagulls circling around the sea.

Why don’t you look at the beach?

The sand can never be the sea.

What is in the sea?

The waves,

the calm yet raging water,

the silent yet roaring breeze;

the deep yet empty sea.

Why would the sea be empty?

Don’t you see what I see?

Just keep looking at the sea,

see how your eyes

keeps on looking,

as if it were waiting to find something.

Every time I look at the sea

I look for what it offers.

Sadly, I return empty

as my eyes fail to find the answer.

The sea,

no matter how much rage it holds

It also holds peace.

Yet everywhere my sight goes,

it sees the empty sea.
